WBAP Radio recently asked Dr. Alex del Carmen to come on the air in Dallas, TX to discuss the aftermath of Tyree Nichols’s death and subsequent protest. Dr. Del Carmen is the head of the School of Criminology, Criminal Justice, and Strategic Studies at Tarleton State University in Fort Worth.
During the interview, Dr. Del Carmen discussed the unique aspects of the case, noting that all five police officers involved were black and fired and charged with murder. He also highlighted the importance of training and recruitment in law enforcement, noting that many potential officers are turned away from joining due to the anti-police sentiment that has become pervasive throughout the country.
Dr. Del Carmen also emphasized the importance of recognizing that most law enforcement officers are honest, decent, and hardworking people who sacrifice themselves every day for the benefit of society.
The conversation also touched on the need for critical thinkers in police departments and how to ensure that those with criminal intent are not hired or trained.
Tune in to WBAP Radio to hear more of Dr. Alex del Carmen’s insights on this important topic. #PoliceReform #Policing #SocialJustice #LawEnforcement
